Peter Pan, Character Studies, 2013
I began a small series of illustrations of the classic characters from J. M. Barrie’s Peter Pan. I always loved the story growing up. I wore out the VHS tape of Disney’s adaptation, memorized songs from the musical, and reread a beautifully illustrated pop-up book until the interactive pieces were stiff or broken. When I finally read the book in college, I wept.
I’d like to continue this project at some point, illustrating the Lost Boys, Wendy, Smee, and the alligator at least. For now, I have the notorious Captain Hook and the jealous pixie, Tinker Bell.
